TORONTO – A Toronto man has been arrested in Barrie and charged with attempting to make child pornography.
Police began investigating 49-year-old Hugh Alexander Thorburn after several teenage girls contacted police in Barrie and Orillia alleging they had been contacted on-line by a person claiming to represent several modelling agencies.
Police allege Thorburn met with several teens and photographed them in exchange for money. Police also allege that he frequently offered the teens money in exchange for sexual services.
He allegedly used several names while trying to contact the girls including Ryan Wardle, Lydia Lensky, Theron Spyra and Andre Stein. He also claimed to represent modelling agencies named ‘Model Mayhem,’ ‘Model Desire,’ and ‘TalentsMLS.com.’
On Saturday police searched Thorburn’s Toronto home and seized several pieces of electronic evidence.
He’s since been charged with making child pornography, possession of child pornography, juvenile prostitution and internet luring.
Police say further charges are pending.
And police are asking anyone who may have come into contact with Thorburn under any of his aliases to contact police.
