CRAVEN – Another year of Craven Country Jamboree wrapped up. Over 18,000 people attended the annual country music festival this weekend. But now that the fun is over, the work begins.
Over the last four days, RCMP have received 253 calls for service and detained 91 prisoners. Those numbers are down from previous years.
“They’re arrested usually for variety of offences – whether it be mischief, sexual assault, impaired driving, or liquor act violations,” said Sgt. Craig Cleary.

Among those arrested, two men were charged for selling stolen wristbands at discounted prices.
“If you do the calculations, that’s well over $10,000 worth of potential profit that the organizers lost out on,” said Cleary.
There were also two sexual assault cases that were reported over the weekend – one of which was dropped, and the other is still being investigated.
Meanwhile a team of about forty people are working to clean up the campground.
“With that amount of people it will probably take a couple weeks,” said Kim Blevins, organizer at Craven Country Jamboree.
The weekend rain has turned the ground to mud, which is an added challenge for the cleanup crew. But it wouldn’t quite be a Craven weekend without it.
“They’re used to it, and some of them like it. They’re out there playing in the mud, and that’s Craven,” said Blevins.
RCMP and tow trucks are on site to assist campers on their way out. Organizers say they have a week to clear off the grounds.
