Former Okanagan pedophile arrested in international internet sting

A former Okanagan man, who was such a prolific offender he was run out of a Merritt by concerned residents, has been once again arrested in an international child exploitation investigation.

David Caza, 47, has been charged with the possession and distribution of child pornography along with 56 other men around the world.

“˜Project Sanctuary’ was a year long investigation, reached across Canada, the United States and Europe.

Police units across Canadian worked with international police to gathering intelligence as the men allegedly traded child sexual abuse images and videos. In some cases, the men are alleged to have abused children as well.

In total, 25 children were rescued during Project Sanctuary, including 12 in Canada, 10 in the US and three in Europe.

“This operation is an excellent example of what can be accomplished through cooperative police work between the US and Canada,” says Tom Blanchard, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Attache in Canada.

When Caza moved to Merritt in 2005, RCMP and the BC Solicitor General’s office issued a warning about the arrival of the repeat sex offender. He had just been released from jail after serving 10-months for possessing child pornography.

The 47-year-old pedophile was sentenced to two years in prison back in 1996 after being found guilty of abusing Penticton boys sexually as well as making and distributing child pornography.

Caza has a lengthy criminal history that dates back to 1981. Some of his crimes include violent sexual assaults against boys.

Other BC men arrested during Project Sanctuary include, Warren Robert Allen, 52, and Peter Scott Wilson, 47, both of Vancouver.
