Duane English is a regular part of the Global Maritimes weather team. He delivers the forecast during the weekend Evening News and News Final, airing at 6.00 and 11.00 PM respectively.
Prior to his current role, Duane spent years producing and hosting HelpTV on ACCESS-TV in Alberta.
Duane’s latest transition to weather specialist was an easy one, having grown up with a father obsessed with the weather. "My dad was involved in aviation safety, and would constantly be talking to me about the weather. Even today when I call him on the phone, I get his local weather conditions before he tells me how he’s doing. Thanks Dad."
After completing a degree in Mass Communications & Psychology at Toronto’s York University in 1992, Duane took the road less travelled to a career in television. His diverse work experience (ask him about it sometime), which ranges from musician to saddlemaker, has helped him interview many people on a wide range of topics. "There is so much knowledge and expertise here in Edmonton, and people are always willing to share… You just have to ask."
Duane considers being out and involved in the community a job "perk" and has enjoyed his time with Big Brothers Big Sisters, the MS Society and Read In Week.
His leisure time is spent playing music, cycling, and studying tae kwon do. Duane is also pursuing his weathercaster endorsement from the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (CMOS).
