30-foot cabin cruiser crashes into Penticton pier, minor injuries reported (photos)

Boat crashes into pier. Global Okanagan

A 30-foot cabin cruiser lost control on Okanagan Lake last night, smashing into the Kiwanis Walking pier.

Witnesses said the boat became airborne before it crashed. The driver took a Breathalyzer test and blew right on the legal limit.

Six people were sitting on a bench at the end of the pier and had to scramble to safety when they saw the boat coming. They were not hurt.

There were two people on the boat, a man and a woman in their 40’s. The woman suffered minor injuries, but the man was not hurt.

Police are bringing in a barge to tow the boat away, after they empty the fuel tank.

The pier remains closed for now.

Two more photos of the incident.
