The explosion that rocked a home in Regina on Boxing Day has been ruled to have been unintentional, the Regina Fire Service said Monday.

Investigators now say it happened because of the presence of ignitable gas vapour from in the basement of the home. It is unknown where the gas came from, but it is believed starting the home’s dryer sparked the blaze.

It happened at 11:38 a.m. at a house on Halleran Place in the Coronation Park neighbourhood on Dec. 26, 2009.

A 23-year-old man, a 28-year-old woman and a four-year-old girl, all occupants of the house, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

According to reports, the blast lifted the house off its foundation.
