Wil Collins wins the PGA TOUR Canada Dakota Dunes Open

SASKATOON – Wil Collins rallied with a 66 to capture the PGA TOUR Canada Dakota Dunes Open on Sunday.

Collins, who finished one stroke ahead of John Ellis and Canadians Nick Taylor and Ryan Yip, made a two-putt par on the final hole after Ellis bogeyed.

Playing in the group behind, Taylor, of Abbotsford, B.C., found the putting surface but missed a 35-foot birdie putt for the tie, giving Collins the victory.

“It hasn’t really sunk in yet. I’ve been playing out here since 2006 and I’ve never got a win,” said Collins. “This win couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s huge to win early. Obviously I still have a lot of work to do with seven events left, but it feels good.”

Taylor took a one-stroke lead into the final round but was quickly caught by Collins’ playing partner Ellis, who made six birdies on the front nine to take the lead.
