Culture Days celebrated in Regina

Canada takes pride in having a diverse and united country, so this weekend Canadians from coast to coast are celebrating.

In Regina, Culture Days was held, and there was plenty to do over the weekend for everyone in the city.

Popular dance troupe Sask. Express put on free dance lessons for those in the community. The Globe Theatre gave away backstage passes. Kids were able to do crafts, see the theatre, wardrobe and view the workshop where the sets are built.

“We’ve had the tours filled up pretty much right away,” Melanie Rogowski said. “The reaction has been fairly positive.”

At RCMP’s Depot tours were showing off the rich history of the Mountie in Saskatchewan.

“It’s a unique opportunity to be able to go over where Cadet’s train to become RCMP officers,” RCMP Heritage Centre President and CEO Robin Etherington said.

Meanwhile, at the Regina Plains Museum, presenters were lecturing on everything from the history of the bathroom to the story of Louis Riel.

At the Central Library, an exhibit called Green is the Colour was on display. Local artist Jefferson Little was helping children re-create a miniature version of one of this pieces.

“In a lot of ways it’s really unique having football and art collaborating and coming together in this way,” Little said.
