Duck Mountain Provincial Park was the latest beneficiary of provincial government investment into parks in Saskatchewan.

The park’s Birch Campground is getting a brand new washroom and shower facility.

Officials say the existing facility is too small, and old to meet the demands of the patrons using the campground.

“They help improve the overall recreational experience of our visitors and help make our provincial parks even more inviting places to camp,” said Bill Hutchinson in a statement. Hutchinson is the minister responsible for tourism, parks, culture and sport

He also noted that modern, clean washrooms are important park features.

The $673,171 contract to build the washroom facility was given to G. Hahn Contracting Limited from Fort Qu’Appelle and will begin in September.

The new facility is expected to be up and running in February 2011.
