A section of the Trans-Canada Highway is closed in southwestern Saskatchewan due to flooding.

The section that is closed is from the Alberta border to the Junction of Highway 21 near Maple Creek. Drivers are being detoured onto Highway 21 and north 200 km to Kindersley, then west on Highway 7 in order to cross the border.

“This extensive detour is necessary due to flooding problems with Alberta Highway 41, which intersects several east-west highways heading into Alberta,” the Government of Saskatchewan’s Highways and Infrastructure department said.

It is recommended drivers take Highway 4 north at Swift Current to reach Highway 7 rather than take the long detour.

For more information check the Highway Hotline.

Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park is also closed due to flooding. The road is closed and some of the park-owned buildings have water in their basements.
