The Saskatoon region is the fastest growing metropolitan area in Canada, according to a Statistics Canada report released Thursday.
As of July 1, 2010, the Annual Demographics Estimates says population in the city increased by 7,240 — a growth rate of 22.7 per thousand
International migration was responsible for the largest proportion of growth in Saskatoon.
Another interesting fact from the report says the city has the lowest median age in the country — 35.4 years.
With growth comes demand for jobs and Rob Norris, Advanced Education, Employment and Immigration Minister, says over the next five years “Saskatchewan will need to add nearly 80,000 new workers in order to meet employer demand.”
Regina was the third fastest growing city in the country.
