The province is still accepting claims for the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP).
PDAP administrators say damage from flooding may only be becoming apparent now and potential claimants may not have filed for assistance due to the six-month claim deadline from the date the damage was caused.
According to Judy Orthner of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing, damage could include those which are becoming noticeable due to colder temperatures or mould that is seeping through foundations.
PDAP has received nearly 5,000 claims since the summer and have made more than 3,200 payments at a cost of around $11.51-million.
More than 200 municipalities have been declared eligible for PDAP assistance and the estimated total cost to claimants will be between $40-million and $45-million.
The PDAP provides eligible residents and communities assistance for damage caused by natural disasters.
