EDMONTON-AREA SCHOOL INFORMATION DURING THE COLD WEATHER

The frigid weather means some schools have made important changes parents and students have to know about.

During cold weather, Edmonton Catholic Schools and Edmonton Public Schools will never close a facility. This is to protect students and to ensure they always have a save, secure and warm place to go to. Teachers and staff are expected to show up regardless of conditions. Keep in mind that other school boards have different rules.

Edmonton Catholic School Board’s Policy on Exams Missed Due to Cold Weather:
If the student is writing a grade 12 diploma exam, the student is allowed to begin writing within one hour of the exam start time. If the student is not able to make it during this time, then the student will be writing his or her diploma exam in June, the next scheduled time for diploma exams. If a high school student is writing a final or mid-term this week, that student will be given an alternate time to write the test.
