Where to find us:
Global Edmonton is now transmitting in digital on channel 47 and feeding this digital signal to Shaw (CH 211). What this means is any pre-recorded or live show in high definition sent to us will be rebroadcast to our viewers in full screen high definition on these channels.
If the show is in standard definition, 4:3 format, the viewer will see the show in standard definition with black bars on the sides. If the show is in standard definition, 16:9 format there will be no bars on the sides.
Global Edmonton News is now produced in high definition as well. All of our studio segments and news graphics are now produced in HD ( as of November 15th, 2010) and our news gathering equipment will be converted to HD sometime in the future. Global Edmonton News is upgrading in stages. We understand viewers have questions about why a few of our programs are not broadcast in high definition on our HD channel.

How can I watch Global Edmonton in HD if I don’t subscribe to cable or satellite?
Many people are now opting to watch local HD programming using over the air television (OTA) reception, which has been available free-of-charge in Canada since the early 1950s. OTA is broadcast in either analog or in new digital television (DTV, which includes HDTV). In order to watch Global’s HD programming over the air, you will need to have the proper gear to receive a digital OTA signal.
There are many resources out there that can show you how to set up your television to receive these DTV signals. Here are a few online resources that will help:

For best reception, all OTA viewers in and outside the city need to point their receiving antenna toward our transmitting antenna site located 5325 Allard Way, Edmonton, or as listed on the contour map 53° 29′ 24" North Latitude 113° 29′ 51" West Longitude.
