Brosnan’s daughter loses cancer fight

TORONTO — The daughter of actor Pierce Brosnan died last week after a three-year battle with cancer. She was 42.

In a statement to People, the James Bond star said: “On June 28 at 2 p.m. my darling daughter Charlotte Emily passed on to eternal life, having succumbed to ovarian cancer. She was surrounded by her husband Alex, children Isabella and Lucas and brothers Christoper and Sean.”

Brosnan’s daughter died at her London, according to Daily Mail. The actor flew from the set of his film November Man in Eastern Europe to be at her bedside.

Charlotte was adopted by Brosnan in 1986 after he married her mother Cassandra Harris. Harris died of ovarian cancer in 1991 at the age of 43.

“Charlotte fought her cancer with grace and humanity, courage and dignity,” Brosnan told People. “Our hearts are heavy with the loss of our beautiful dear girl. We pray for her and that the cure for this wretched disease will be close at hand soon.

“We thank everyone for their heartfelt condolences.”

Brosnan’s Remington Steele co-star Stephanie Zimbalist posted a message on Facebook. “Please join us in sending love, prayers and sympathy to Pierce Brosnan and his family.”

Denise Richards, who co-starred with the 60-year-old Irish actor in The World is Not Enough, tweeted: “My heart goes out to Pierce Brosnan & his family.. so devastating.”
