RECYCLE YOUR TREE!

RECYCLE YOUR TREE! - image

City of Calgary – Fresh-scented, real Christmas trees are a holiday tradition for many Calgarians. Another tradition is the annual Christmas Tree Recycling Program. The City of Calgary would like to remind citizens that when the festivities are over and the real trees are taken down, they can be recycled into mulch, which is used to beautify green spaces in our city.

Participating in this program is just one of many ways Calgarians can help our city achieve the goal of diverting 80 per cent of our waste by the year 2020. In addition, keeping Christmas trees and other recyclables out of our garbage helps keep collection crews on schedule during this peak season.

Be sure to remove all decorations, tinsel, plastic and string from your tree. No artificial trees will be accepted. Ensure that your tree is properly secured to your vehicle when bringing it to a depot.

Calgarians can recycle their real unwanted Christmas trees at no extra charge at one of the 31 drop-off locations, including the three City landfills.
