TORONTO — A former Saturday Night Live star says celebrity chef Paula Deen’s use of a racial slur is no different than cracking a “dumb blonde” joke.

“I wonder why the minority of blondes can be ridiculed by anyone and no one gets fired,” comedian Victoria Jackson wrote on her conservative blog. “Why are dumb blonde jokes still politically correct?”

Jackson then urges Deen to sue Food Network, which dropped her show in light of the scandal. “Let’s fire everyone who has ever said a dumb blonde joke.”

The 53-year-old, who was part of the SNL cast from 1986 to 1992, said rappers use the racial slur in far more vulgar ways than Deen.

“So, black people can use the N word and white people can’t,” she wrote. “What happened to Freedom of Speech?”
