Gallery: Supermoon lights up skies around the world

Those with their eyes on the skies this weekend may catch a glimpse of the brightest full moon of the year.

Its called the supermoon because it appears to be 14 per cent bigger than normal.

On Sunday, the moon will be at its closest point to Earth; supermoons happen about once a year.

If you want to see the moon at its regular size, stand with your back to it, lean over and and take a look at it from between your legs.
