SASKATOON – Police say at least two people have recently been defrauded by a mystery shopper scam.
Scammers entice victims with online ads to become secret shoppers.
People receive a mailed cheque and deposit it as part of the employment. Victims are then asked to transfer some of that money back to the alleged employer via a money transfer before finding out the cheque is fraudulent.
Residents are reminded to ignore attractive pop-up ads on the internet.
If anyone has been a victim of fraud can call Saskatoon police at 306-975-8300.
