Surveillance video appears to show suspects pull up in front of a hospital clinic in Toronto’s north end and dump a man’s body on the sidewalk before driving off overnight Monday.
Toronto police said they were patrolling an area in the city’s north end Monday morning when they came across a man without vital signs.
Toronto paramedics said they attended the area on Uphill Avenue, near Jane and Church streets, at around 2:30 a.m.
Paramedics said they did not transport anyone. The man was pronounced dead on scene. He has been identified as 36-year-old Rohan Rose, of Toronto.
Police said the man was suffering from gunshot wounds and his body was found on a snowbank near a bus stop.
The surveillance video obtained by Global News appears to show a dark-coloured vehicle pull up to the scene. Two people exit the vehicle and it appears the man’s body was dumped on the sidewalk.
Based on the video’s timestamp, a police officer patrolling the area can be seen finding the man’s body about 15 minutes after the suspects leave.
Arnel Dimabuy was still awake working at home when officers knocked on his door asking to see his surveillance footage. That’s when, together with police, he saw the gruesome actions caught on video.
“It’s a little bit scary, dumping a body in front of your house,” Dimabuy said.
“It’s a good thing that the first person who saw this body was a police officer,” he said adding that officers are often seen patrolling the area.
Dimabuy said he did not hear any gunshots. He added that it’s not the first time police have asked him for his CCTV footage. Dimabuy described another time police asked for surveillance video after machinery was stolen in the area.
Dimabuy said he got his surveillance camera installed shortly after seeing his neighbour got a camera system, about two years ago.
Investigators have not yet provided a suspect description.
This is now Toronto’s thirteenth homicide of the year.
