BC flooding latest

Parts of B.C. are keeping a close eye on water levels this morning.

In southeastern B.C., nearly every river and stream is swollen and running fast.

The west and east Kootenay region has been upgraded to a flood watch and high stream flow advisories are in effect in other regions in the southern Interior.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

A late spring storm dumped 100 millimeters of rain across the region.

The heavy rain is also causing problems on Highway 31.

The highway is closed in two locations north of Kaslo because of separate mudslides.

In Kelowna, high water levels have closed Lakeshore Drive between Cook Road and Lexington Avenue.

Residents across the province are now bracing themselves, fearing the worst could be yet to come.
