TORONTO – The region’s latest track of outlet stores will be opening in just under two months in Halton Hills.
The outlet shopping mall, dubbed the Toronto Premium Outlets, will house dozens of luxury brands in its huge 400,000 square foot space.
Some of the notable brands include Adidas, Bench, Banana Republic, DKNY, Calvin Klein, Michael Kors, Nike and Tommy Hilfiger.
The shops will also have the first Mountain Warehouse and Ice Breaker stores in Canada.

And the mayor of Halton Hills said the stores are expected to have a huge economic impact on the region.
“It’s going to create about 500 full time jobs and possibly up to 830 part time jobs,” Rick Bonnette, Mayor of Halton Hills said in an interview. “So all together the taxes are going to be about $1.5 million in taxes. So it’s going to be a real economic boost.”
Bonnette think the stores could reverse the trend of Canadians heading south to shop.
And one retail analyst said the stores may be able to keep some Canadians from crossing the border – but only if they can sustain a “shopping experience.”
“I still think there’s enormous amount of buzz among Canadians for something sounds American, looks American, which is what outlet mall experience can be,” Richard Warnica, a Staff Writer at Canadian Business said in an interview Thursday. “So when they first come in I don’t think they’ll have any problem bringing in crowds. The question is can they build an experience that will sustain it after that initial buzz.”
The outlet stores are expected to open on August 1.
