Students asking for fall break

University of Alberta students are hoping to get another break during their school year.

Students currently get one week off in the spring for "reading week" and now they’re pushing for one in November as well.

The spring break is meant to help students de-stress and advocates for the fall break say they’re proposing it for the same reason.

To offset that extra week, the Students’ Union is proposing students come back to school one week earlier from summer break.

This would maintain 13 weeks of instruction per semester.

The issue is being put to a student vote on March 9 and 10.

If approved, the plan would be presented to the General Faculties Council, a legislative body that works with the U of A’s Board of Governors to govern the post-secondary school.
