Calgarians developing leading iPhone/iPad apps

CALGARY – iPhone or iPad lovers have an array of popular apps from the hit game “˜angry birds’ to iCalender to keep organized.

Some of those very popular apps are being created right here in Calgary.

A new website highlights the locally built apps and the people behind them.

Connor Turner created YYCApps for developers to share ideas and techniques to build and market their apps. He saw a lot of apps being developed in Calgary but few people knew about them.

“It’s really growing at the moment,” says Connor.

“There’s a lot of people in this city that are starting to dabble in the app development community, we’re seeing design companies actually developing apps for clients.”

One of their big sellers is a business data collection and organizational app called Tap Forms. It has reached number one in app store sales and is sold in 14 different languages.

“There’s 25 forms that it comes with and pre-built in. You can customize them to your liking or you can create brand new ones from scratch,” says Brendan Duddridge, Tap Forms app developer.

Brendan regularly speaks at the iPhone development camps to help others learn from his success.
