Students and staff were sent home for the day and those who live on campus were evacuated to the Servus Sports Centre, the college said.

“Shortly before noon today [Tuesday] police responded to a report that Lethbridge College had received an email to their general inquiries account which contained a bomb threat,” police said in a news release Tuesday.

“College officials notified police immediately and officers were dispatched. Lethbridge College followed their emergency protocols and evacuated their campus and student residences as a precautionary measure.”

Police said there is no evidence to suggest the threat was credible.

Their preliminary investigation found the email did not come from any students or staff, though it may have originated from overseas.

“At this time there is no evidence to suggest the college community is at risk,” police said.
