The TTC says subway service has resumed between Jane and Ossington stations after a partial derailment of an unoccupied train at Keele Station. Riders were forced onto packed shuttle buses and Bloor Street was closed by police due to the high volume of pedestrians.

The TTC tweeted about the service disruption around 6:08 a.m. Wednesday.

“Our crews are reporting a partial derailment of one of the middle cars of a train that was leaving Keele Yard. It was not in service,” TTC spokesperson Stuart Green tweeted about the reason for the subway shutdown.

Commuters were redirected onto shuttle buses for the morning rush hour that ended just before 10:30 a.m.

Green said 100 buses were ordered as track crews were on scene assessing the problem.

Just before 9:30 a.m., Toronto police tweeted that they have temporarily closed Bloor Street between Royal York Road and Jane Street to traffic, only allowing TTC shuttle buses through, as roads are congested with pedestrian traffic due to the TTC subway shutdown.
