19-year-old man critically injured after stabbing in east-end Toronto

A 19-year-old man is in life-threatening condition after a stabbing in Toronto’s east end Tuesday evening, officials say.

Emergency crews were called to a property on Manse Road near Lawrence Avenue East, east of Morningside Avenue, at around 7:40 p.m.

A Toronto police spokesperson said the victim was stabbed in the stomach.

A spokesperson for Toronto Paramedics told Global News the patient was taken to a trauma centre with critical injuries.

Police said a 19-year-old man took off on foot after the incident.

“There were numerous phone calls in from citizens in the area who had noticed the suspect jumping fences in specific areas,” Insp. Stacey Davis told reporters Tuesday night.

Police said the accused was tracked down by the canine unit and arrested.

Davis said the victim and the suspect lived in the same group home.
