Police may charge man following prank 911 call

CALGARY – Police are expected to charge a man with mischief after a prank 911 call led to an innocent Calgary couple being put in handcuffs.

The incident happened last month in the northeast community of Marlborough.

A man claiming he had gang ties made two calls to 911 saying he had been shot in the leg on Thursday September 23rd. He went on to say he would kill any police officers who came near him and then hung up. Through a non-police data base, police traced the cell phone to a home on Marcombe Crescent.

After the tact team went in and handcuffed two people inside, they discovered the home had nothing to do with the calls.
