MONTREAL – A 30-year-old woman is in critical condition after being run over by a freight train as she was trying to cross a rail track in the Old Port of Montreal in the early hours of Thursday morning.

The train was stopped at a pedestrian crossing next to the Clock Tower Quay.
Police said that the woman decided to cross the track with a group of three to four friends.
She lost her footing and fell onto the track. At that moment, the train jolted to a start, rolling over her legs.
Both of her legs were severed in the accident.
