The teen pop sensation that has captured the hearts of every teenage girl across the globe is sparking a wave of excitement in Winnipeg.
As Bieber-fever takes over the city, and fans count down to Justin Bieber’s sold out MTS Centre performance Tuesday night, teens have filled malls and restaurants, hoping for a sighting of the star.
“I’m really excited just because it’s Justin Bieber. How can you not love Justin Bieber,” says Allie Pruden, who spent Monday afternoon scoping out Polo Park with a huge group of Bieber fans.
Pruden started a twitter account that united Winnipeg fans to participate in a so-called “buy out”.
Thirty or more teens met at centre court Monday before storming HMV, buying dozens of Justin’s CD’s they already own. The goal is to bond with fellow fans and donate all the disks to the children’s hospital.
It didn’t take long for the group to burst into their favorite Bieber songs, shouting lyrics to “Baby” and “You Smile” throughout the mall.
Though the Bieb’s himself didn’t make an appearance, his father did show up for the “buy-out”, noting Winnipeg fans have a special place in his son’s heart.
“I’ve lived here for a year and a bit, I don’t live here any more but I’m touring with Justin, so it’s nice to support Winnipeg and the fans are great,” says Jeremy Bieber.
The pop star can now add “best new artist” to his list of accolades after Sunday night’s win at the MTV Video Music Awards.
