Carousel Softoys Inc. has recalled a line of soft toys due to a possible choking hazard. The small eyes of the stuffed plush toys can easily become detached and pose a choking risk for young children.

This recall involves stuffed plush animals in an assortment of shapes: elephant, racoon, dog, monkey, frog, panda, mouse, rabbit, and bear. The toys are 15cm in height and have a red ribbon tied around their neck. Each animal also has a small loop attached to its head, which allows the toy to be hung for display.

The recalled plush toys have a hang tag with the model number 413-6ASA and "Carousel Softoys Inc." printed on it.

Health Canada’s sampling and evaluation program has identified that the eyes on the plush toys can detach easily; these small parts pose a choking hazard to young children.

Neither Health Canada nor Caravan Concessions Carousel Softoys Inc. has received reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these toys.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled plush toys away from children and safely dispose of the toy – so that it cannot be reused – in regular household garbage.

For more information, consumers may contact Caravan Concessions Carousel Softoys Inc. at 1-800-214-0473.

Approximately 1,510 units of the recalled plush toys were sold as prizes at various fairs, carnivals, and amusement parks in Ontario, Quebec, and the Atlantic provinces.

The recalled products were sold from January 2009 to July 2010.
