Rescued after being thrown off horse

VERNON — Vernon Search and Rescue crews had to transport a man who was injured while horseback riding in Kal Lake Provincial Park.

The man —believed to be from the local area— was been thrown off his horse while riding with friends near the Cosens Bay beach Saturday, suffering possible head injuries.

Search manager Leigh Pearson says due to the injuries, they decided to transport the man by boat to the Kinloch boat launch, rather than by ATV, figuring it would be a smoother ride.

No other details about the man’s condition have been released.
