Lacing up for diabetes

KELOWNA — Hundreds hit the pavement here in Kelowna for diabetes. Upwards of 800 people walked the Mission Creek Greenway to help raise awareness and money for type 1 diabetes.

The annual walk is put on by the Kelowna chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Organizers say there are some 300-thousand Canadians who live with type 1 diabetes.

45-thousand people in 70 communities across Canada took part in the diabetes walk.
