Eskimo fans can expect to have a new warrior to help cheer on their favourite team this summer, but his attire is probably a little different than the average fan.

23-year-old Khelifa Patone, an Eskimos fan for as long as he can remember, has made a suit of armour depicting the logo of the green and gold as well as his name and the number eleven on the back, but what makes his suit unique is that it’s made entirely out of the tabs on beer cans.

Patone, who has had a longtime passion for armour and ancient history, got the idea to make the Eskimos suit last summer at at barbeque when realizing that his beer of choice, Hieneken, had green tabs that went perfect with the yellow tabs of Stella to create the green and gold worn by his favourite football team.

"I started only drinking Hieneken so I would always have green tabs on hand, and after about a year’s worth of saving up, with the help of friends and family, I had enough green and gold tabs where I basically just made the Eskimo logo to see if I could do it…and it worked so I just kept going and going," said Patone.

A bartender by trade, which he says came in handy when gathering the tabs, Patone spent about a year collecting the nearly 7,500 beer tabs and another 2 months assembling the suit.

As an Eskimo season ticket holder Patone plans to be at every home game, cheering on his football warriors dressed in his very own suit of armour.
