Two women were captured on video taking boxes from a porch at a home on Avenue E South near 19 Street West around 2:15 p.m.

SPS’s investigation was able to find both women and recovered the packages.

The toddler, Leo Leptich, has a rare medical condition known as epidermolysis bullosa, also known as butterfly skin.

His skin tears and blisters very easily and the special bandages protect his skin.

Leo’s mother Crystal said at first, she thought there might have been an issue with the delivery.

“It was kind of the farthest thing from my mind. I just assumed that maybe there was a problem with the shipment,” she told Global News.

She said the family was expecting a shipment of around $5,100 worth of supplies this week.

With the holiday season coming up, SPS is asking people to be cautious when having packages delivered.

“Requesting a signature upon delivery. You could also have it delivered to a post office where you could pick it up from there. If your workplace is OK with it, have it delivered to your office where somebody is signing for it,” SPS spokesperson Kelsie Fraser said on Thursday.

Crystal said Leo uses around $48,000 in medical supplies every year.

She added that this was the best-case scenario and thanked the police and public for helping find the bandages.
