Originally formed in 1942, the 243 Squadron disbanded a few years afterward but reformed in 1963.

Today the program is for boys and girls aged 12 to 18 years old and has more than 50 cadets enrolled.

Commanding Officer Captain Aidan Ketchum says while it is ‘Air Cadets’ it’s not only about the flying, “It’s all run by cadets and it’s really teaching them independence and leadership and it’s applicable to all facets of live essentially, and employment.”
