Administration anticipating alcohol at Saskatoon strip clubs

City administration fears that permitting nightclubs to have live adult entertainment could open doors to include liquor sales one day. Vytai Brannan / Global News

SASKATOON – Strip clubs could soon exist again in Saskatoon and this time in establishments which serve alcohol.

The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority made a change to provincial liquor regulations last November allowing strip-tease performances and wet T-shirt contests to take place in local clubs.

Now city administration is proposing council approve changes to bylaws to differentiate between night clubs and those that provide strip-tease as a primary form of entertainment.

The city’s Alan Wallace says the plan is to regulate the clubs under the adult services bylaw, adding that any establishment offering strip-tease performances exclusively will then be subject the noted set location criteria.

The proposals will be brought to city council for approval on June 10th.
