REGINA – Starting July 1st, the Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region is closing emergency services in Wolseley.
The community is losing two doctors – one is retiring and the other is moving out of the province. Paired with an already reduced staff due to summer vacation time, services will be curtailed until the region can rehire.
Residents will be forced to access emergency services in Broadview or Indian Head. Regular hospital hours will remain 12 hours a day, seven days a week.
“We will continue to recruit team members and we anticipate we’ll be able to increase the amount of service we’re able to deliver once the summer vacation period is over,” assured Karen Earnshaw, acting vice-president of rural, restorative and continuing care with the RQHR.
