Ten people injured in Springbank crash

CALGARY – Eight people had to be taken hospital on Sunday after a three vehicle crash just west of the city.

It happened on Springbank Road and Range Road 32 around 5:30 p.m.

One of the children, a seven-year-old, was airlifted to hospital by STARS air ambulance. Officials say the child stayed in hospital overnight but is listed in stable condition.

The three other children involved were rushed to hospital by EMS, where they were treated for their injuries and released.

The two adults in the van were taken to hospital in stable condition.

Four people in the two other vehicles involved, a Volkswagen Touareg and a Jeep Liberty, were treated on scene for minor injuries.

The occupants of the Touareg were from Banff but all of the others were from Calgary.

No charges have been laid at this time, and RCMP say alcohol and drugs are not considered factors in the crash.
