A 17-year-old man from Port Alberni has been charged in the sexual assault of a 16-year-old woman on Tuesday evening.
The man was arrested late Wednesday afternoon and he remains in police custody.

Crown Counsel has charged the man with attempted murder, aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, and choking.
The young man has been remanded into custody until his next court appearance which is scheduled for June 6 in Port Alberni.
Due to the age of the accused, no information can be released that leads to the identification of this young person.
