Lethbridge Fire Department launches interactive map

The Lethbridge Fire Department has launched an interactive map to show residents where fires have happened and preventative measures that can be taken to prevent similar fires.

Fire Prevention Officer Mark Hoveling says not only will this educate people it will make the fire department more transparent, showing tax payers where tax dollars are going and the work that is being done.

The interactive map is the first of it’s kind in Alberta and B.C.

A number of different categories will be shown, including structure fires, carbon monoxide calls and even rope rescues.

last year alone the fire department responded to over 15 hundred calls. 90% of those types of calls will be displayed. Officials say medical assistant calls will not be shown on the map.
