2 males injured after shots fired in Surrey

Residents of a Surrey neighbourhood are feeling shaken after a brazen daylight shooting sent two men to hospital. As Grace Ke reports, the shots were fired a short distance from a school and a daycare – Sep 4, 2019

Two males were injured after shots were fired in a busy area of Fraser Heights late Tuesday afternoon.

Around 12 police vehicles and an ambulance were on the scene near 160 Street and 111 Avenue, about half a block away from Erma Stephenson Elementary.

Surrey RCMP in a statement say at approximately 4:50 p.m., units responded to multiple reports of shots fired in the 15900 block of 111 Avenue.

Officers arrived to find two men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds near a black Chrysler with a blown-out driver’s-side window and several bullet holes.

That vehicle had crashed into a fence on a property on 160 Street.

RCMP say they believe the incident was targeted, and while there was a risk to the public during the time of the shooting, there is no longer any continuing or active threat to residents.

Serious Crimes officers are continuing to investigate.
