TORONTO – Global News reporter Mike Drolet is in the Oklahoma City suburb of Moore on Wednesday, where a massive tornado destroyed homes and killed at least two dozen people on Monday.

Tornado safe rooms have been brought to the forefront since Monday’s tornado levelled the Plaza Towers elementary school, which did not have reinforced storm shelters or safe rooms. Seven children were killed.

While Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management Albert Ashwood said more than 100 schools across the state do have safe rooms, he said a shelter would not necessarily have saved more lives at Plaza Towers.
U.S. President Barack Obama has since pledged to provide federal help.
