REGINA – Rider fans will have more seating options this season, but the number of drinks they can buy at one time will remain the same.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders held their 2013 CFL season preview teleconference with the media on Tuesday morning, outlining some of the changes that fans can expect this season.
Riders president Jim Hopson said that the team will be off to Saskatoon for training camp to help facilitate stadium renovations for the Grey Cup, and because the Riders are “Saskatchewan’s team,” and like to travel to Saskatoon whenever they get a chance.
Currently the Riders have sold 28,000 season tickets and will have a seating capacity of 40,000 fans for their home opener on July 5th against Calgary.

By the time the Grey Cup rolls into town in November the stadium will have a capacity of 45,000 seats – those extra 5,000 seats are expected to be in place for the Labour Day classic game against Winnipeg.
Hopson says hotel rooms for Grey Cup week remain a bit of a challenge, though the team anticipates home-stays and other accommodation options will help lessen the pressure.
With the new liquor laws the SLGA put in place earlier this month it would allow the staff at Mosaic Stadium to serve fans more than two drinks at a time but the team has decided to stick with a two drink limit.
The Riders kick off their pre-season in Edmonton on June 14th and the team opens up their regular season in Edmonton on June 29th.
