SASKATOON, SK – Saskatoon’s own rock band The Sheepdogs hit the street to perform a free concert for fans on Victoria Day.

Around 7 p.m., the band took to the Red Bull Tour Bus parked at Broadway and 10th Street which had transformed into a complete sound stage.

Local music fans crowded the streets and rooftops on Broadway as they were treated to their favourite hometown heroes’ hits on a beautiful Monday evening.

“It’s good to see family and friends, plus we love summertime in Saskatoon, this is the kind of stuff we loved going to when we were younger, so it’s really cool to do something on Broadway, we grew up coming here all the time,” said bassist Ryan Gullen.

This was one of the five events for the Red Bull Tour Bus Hometown Tour. The bus is making its way from coast-to-coast to bring some of Canada’s most celebrated bands to their hometowns.

After securing the cover of Rolling Stone magazine in an international competition, the band has racked up numerous awards including three Junos in 2012.

The Sheepdogs also performed in the province last month at the 42nd Juno Awards show in Regina.  This year, the band was nominated three times but came up empty.

“Awards are cool, it’s awesome getting them, but to make music and share it with other people that’s more important to us,” said Gullen.
