PENTICTON, BC — Officials say there won’t be an independent investigation into the death of a motorcyclist killed in Penticton last weekend.
Clinton Schoening, 34, died last Saturday after losing control of his motorcycle on Eastside Road.
He had passed a police cruiser shortly before the crash.
The police officer was in the process of turning around with the intention of pulling Schoening over for speeding.
The Independent Investigation Office (IIO) was notified because a police officer was involved.

The IIO says there won’t be an investigation.
It says it has examined the in-car video from the police cruiser which reveals the motorcycle had been travelling at 137 kph.
The IIO says a second motorcycle went by the police cruiser and that it pulled over to the side of the road when the officer activated his emergency lights.
It says the officer lost sight of the first motorcycle and turned off his lights.
The IIO says the officer then noticed a large dust cloud before arriving at the scene of the crash.
It says Schoening died at the scene and that a female passenger has sustained injuries.
The IIO says the total time between the first sight of the motorcycle until he discovered the crash was 67 seconds and that the motorcycle was a considerable distance from the police cruiser when the officer first activated the emergency lights.
It says the officer’s actions did not contribute to the crash and that the case is closed.
