SASKATOON – A two-day forum aimed at coming up with a plan to end homelessness in Saskatoon has wrapped up with 72 recommendations.
Some are focused on engaging landlords to be a part of the solution.
One was to assign a group to work with landlords and develop a program that supports first-time renters, outlining the physical and financial responsibilities required to maintain housing.

It was also suggested to create paid housing navigator positions – people who would help tenants with paperwork and negotiate rent prices with landlords.
The final recommendation on the list is to dedicate the United Way’s Plan to End Homelessness to Alvin Cote, a homeless alcoholic who had a special bond with police officers in Saskatoon.
Cote was in hospital with pneumonia when he died last month.
