It wasn’t long before officers started handing out tickets on Thursday.

Not long after a checkstop opened on Lagimodiere Boulevard, our cameras caught officers making an arrest for drug possession.

Officers also ticketed a driver who had too much liquor in the car.

Officials say more than 600 drunk drivers have been taken off the road in the past three years with help from the checkstop program.
