Liquor laws interfere with restaurant owner’s plans

WINNIPEG — The owner of La Bamba says current Manitoba liquor laws put multiple hurdles in his way when he opened the restaurant in Winnipeg’s new Sports, Hospitality and Entertainment District last year.

Watch as he explains how he wanted to open a dining room and lounge but couldn’t because of the location of his bathrooms, then decided to have a lounge but couldn’t because his venue’s too small to meet the licensing requirements.

In the end, he opened a restaurant with just a dining room — which makes it impossible to give some customers what they want.
