Waterloo police release new images of suspect, vehicle in reported sexual assaults of 3 children

Waterloo Regional Police have released new video of a suspect and a vehicle that are believed to be connected to the sexual assaults of three children between 2013 and 2019 – Jul 24, 2019

Waterloo Regional Police think their investigators are close to making an arrest in connection with the sexual assaults of three young girls.

A news conference was held on Wednesday morning at police headquarters where new photos and video of a suspect and his vehicle were shown.

They show a shirtless man running east on Karn Street in Kitchener at around 8:15 p.m. on July 6, moments after a four-year-old girl was reportedly sexually assaulted at a nearby apartment building on Brybeck Crescent.

The video then shows the suspect’s vehicle — a grey, newer-model Honda Civic LX — driving west on Karn Street.

Brybeck Crescent and Karn Street run parallel to each other.

Another video shows the same vehicle in a parking lot on Brybeck Crescent about an hour before the assault.

Inspector Mark Crowell said by releasing the images, they hope to hone in on the suspect.

“Our investigative team has been working tirelessly around the clock,” he said, noting they have received countless tips.

Addressing the suspect during the news conference, Crowell urged the unknown man to call a lawyer and turn himself in.

“Certainly that would be the easiest and quickest way to resolve [this].”

Police have confirmed that DNA analysis has connected one person to all three reported attacks that date back to 2013.

A six-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at an apartment building on Patricia Avenue in Kitchener on Oct. 27, 2017.

A four-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on Oct. 20, 2013, at an apartment building on Barrie Place in Waterloo.

Police believe there could be more victims given the history and length of their investigation.

Insp. Crowell urged anyone with information to contact investigators at 519-570-9777 ext. 8191.

“We believe someone knows the person responsible and we hope they will come forward to provide any information they may have,” he said.
